Three retailers were approved as members last month Furniture Firsts board of directors: Johnson Furniture, Eclectic, AL; Ugly Interiors in Marietta, GA; and Vinson Fine Furniture in Columbus, OH.
For over 60 years, Johnson Furniture has been bringing quality home furnishings to Alabama’s river region. Today the store is run by the fifth generation of the Keith family, with an emphasis on quality and bespoke items.
Patti Gosch founded Outrageous Interiors in 1988, and shortly after their oldest child was born, her husband Kurt joined the business. Today, the family operates four stores in Metro Atlanta with a customer-focused design team.
Vinson Fine Furniture began in 1979 as a retailer specializing in kitchen and dining. A family enterprise from the beginning, the Vinson family has focused their business at the heart of the home. In 2022, they rebranded to become a full-line furniture store with a focus on heirloom quality furniture.
“We are excited to welcome these new members to our cooperative,” said Andrew Kauffman, CEO of Furniture First. “They have each had a unique retail journey but share a similar mindset: learning from other retailers facing the same challenges as them. Right now it’s about traffic, promotions and staffing. There may be benchmarking and backup planning in the long run. “We offer support and solutions to a variety of challenges.”
Furniture First is a cooperative national home furnishings and bedding buying group serving a full line of independent retailers with sales over $2 million. The group collectively generates $3 billion in retail sales through approved product programs at 524 member storefronts. Furniture First recently opened a new High Point showroom at 336 South Main Street, in the heart of the High Point Market district.
